Lomilomi Massage owes its development to the native Hawaiian Kahunas and has been practiced for more than 5000 years. Many of the movements from Lomilomi can also be seen in traditional Hula dances.

Lomilomi is a deep and rhythmical massage. The rhythm is very relaxing. It works gently but deeply into the muscles using continuous flowing strokes totally nurturing your body. It differs from other forms of massage in many ways. It is an experience that overwhelms the mind with sensations and at the same time communicates an acceptance and a nurturing of the inner self. Massages are often used in stress management but not necessarily addressing or transcending the cause of the stress. Sacred Lomilomi changes the way you think, feel, move and breathe.

Overindulge your senses with the elements of fire and water. Hot stones will bring the fire of the volcano, while long, gliding movements will simulate the waves of the ocean washing across and around your body. Like these elements of nature, the massage will help you to replace the old with the new--and allow rebirth. This is the traditional intent of Lomilomi: to give you a chance to let go of the past, focus on the present and open yourself to the possibilities of the future.

As delightful as Lomilomi can be, it is not for everyone. The session uses a lot of oil and involves the free-flowing movement of hands and arms both above and below your body. The more open you are to allow the free movement of the waves, the more appropriate the work is for you.
